Serger

What is a serger and how is it used?

A serger is a specialized sewing machine that trims, edges, and sews fabric simultaneously, often used for tasks like edging, hemming, or seaming. Unlike a regular sewing machine, a serger employs loopers fed by multiple thread cones instead of a bobbin, creating secure seams with thread loops. While advantageous for specific projects, the cost and limited need for serged seams often make owning one impractical.

What accessories are provided to use with the serger?
When you arrive for your scheduled timeslot to use the serger, you will be provided with the following accessories:
  • Fabric scissors
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Seam ripper
  • Pins
  • Sewing needles (hand)
  • Tailor’s chalk
  • Measuring tape
  • Foot pedal
  • Spare needles
  • Tweezers
  • Two screwdrivers
  • 4 spools white thread
